Christine Lehnertz, Superintendent
Grand Canyon National Park
Texas born and Colorado raised, Ms. Lehnertz obtained her degree as an environmental biologist from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She started her conservation career in the Rocky Mountains where she worked as a seasonal wildlife and biological technician for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She spent 16 years with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency before she joined the National Park Service. In 2007, she entered the National Park Service as deputy superintendent at Yellowstone National Park, and then served from 2010 to 2015 as regional director for the NPS’ Pacific West Region. She has been superintendent at Golden Gate National Recreation Area since May 2015. She assumed her new post as superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park in August 2016.
