Carleton Bowekaty, Pueblo of Zuni
Mr. Bowekaty serves as a councilman on the Pueblo of Zuni Tribal Council. He graduated from Zuni High School in 1998 and attended New Mexico State University from 1998-2000. From 2001 to 2009, he served in the U.S. Army as a counterintelligence Agent. He was honorably discharged after eight years of service which included receiving the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, the Iraq Compaign Medal, and other medals. From 2009 to 2012 he attended the University of New Mexico at Gallup. He is responsible for the oversight of all Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and the protection of sacred/cultural sites throughout the Southwestern United States for the Pueblo of Zuni.
