Dave Nimkin, National Parks Conservation Association

David Nimkin is currently serving at the Director of the Southwest Region for the National Parks Conservation Association. Based in Salt Lake City, the Southwest office works to preserve and protect the magnificent parks, monuments, and historic sites in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico.

His past work experience includes being a partner in Confluence Associates, LLC that was formed in 1996 to assist communities, businesses, and non-profit organizations with strategies and resources that promote local decision-making, conservation strategies, and compatible economic development. He served as chief of Staff to Mayor Rocky Anderson in Salt Lake City; executive director for six years for the Utah Small Business Development Center; as a management consultant with Arthur Andersen, Strategic Services Division; founder and past chairman of the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund; president of the Board of Directors of High Country News (Paonia, CO); and he also served as the vice chairman of the Advisory Council on Small Business and Agriculture of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

He has a master's degree in public private management (MPPM) from the Yale School of Management (New Haven, CT), a master's degree in social work and community planning from the University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT), and a bachelor's degree in history from Franklin and Marshall College (Lancaster, PA).
