2022 Spring High Flow Experiment Snapshot

The best available data and modeling indicate that sediment conditions necessary to trigger a 2022 Spring HFE at Glen Canyon Dam have not been met. HFEs are restricted to limited periods of the year when the highest volumes of sediment may be available to build sandbars in the Grand Canyon. Under the protocol outlined in the Long-Term Experimental and Management Plan Record of Decision, when sufficient sediment has accumulated, sediment-triggered Spring HFEs can be implemented in March or April.
