- Earned his B.A. in Biology and Fine Arts from Prescott College in 1974, his M.S. in Biology from Northern Arizona University in 1985, and his Ph.D. in Zoology from NAU in 1989.
- He has published many peer-reviewed publications and has worked as an ecologist with the Grand Canyon National Park Resources Management and Planning Division (1988-94), an adjunct faculty member with the Department of Biological Sciences (1990-present), an ecologist with the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (1998-99), an associate editor with the Western North American Naturalist (1999-present), and served on the Board of Trustees with the Museum of Northern Arizona (2003-present).

- Larry Stevens was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1951 and completed high school with honors. He moved to Arizona in 1970 and attended Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona. This was followed by graduate studies at the University of Arizona, Tucson and Northern Arizona University, where he received his doctoral degree in Zoology in 1989. He served as the ecologist for Grand Canyon National Park from 1989-1994, was the editor for Red Lake Books, served on many ecological councils and committees in Arizona, teaches occasionally at both Prescott College and Northern Arizona University, and still works as a whitewater guide in Grand Canyon. He is presently the curator of ecology at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, and is the senior ecologist for Grand Canyon Wildlands Council, in which position he serves as a conservation representative for the adaptive management of Glen Canyon Dam and the Colorado River through Grand Canyon. Larry has authored many publications, recently including a book on the ecology of springs ecosystems in North America.
