Warren Turkett

Mr. Turkett has worked at the Colorado River Commission of Nevada for the past three years as a Natural Resource Analyst. He is responsible for maintaining the state’s Colorado River water use accounting and represents the state in a number of groups regarding the Colorado River. Mr. Turkett is responsible for operating Colorado River Basin simulation models used for short and long term water resource planning. Before starting at the Colorado River Commission, Mr. Turkett worked at the Southern Nevada Water Authority for five years as an Environmental Biologist with an emphasis on water quality projects at the Las Vegas Wash and Lake Mead.

Mr. Turkett received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wright State University and a Master’s in Water Resource Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During his Masters education Mr. Turkett worked as an Intern Hydrologist for two years at the Southern Nevada Water Authority with a focus on water quality sampling. Mr. Turkett completed a doctorate degree in Environmental Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with research focused on quantifying the ecological impacts of an invasive quagga mussel population in Lake Mead. Mr. Turkett is currently working on publishing his findings.

He enjoys participating in outreach activities that educate the public on water resources. He has participated in Las Vegas Wash Green-up events and has given numerous presentations to middle schools on the water cycle and the importance of water conservation. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and taking landscape photography.
